On May 21st, online auction service, eBay, announced that it had been hacked and that current members should change their passwords as soon as possible.
The company stated that a database containing encrypted passwords had been broken into, but that no financial data had been taken. The hackers were able to gain access to eBay employee logins which gave them access to encrypted passwords.
No unauthorized purchases have been made with this information, but it is still a good idea to change your eBay password.
To change your eBay password:
Go to ebay.com and log in. Click My eBay, then select Account. Then click Personal Information in the left menu and edit the password.
Frequently changing your passwords on any and all accounts - especially those containing sensitive information - is always a great idea and a good habit to get into.
